A Texas District Court Judge issued and injunction to delay the application process for the two deferred action initiatives announced by President Obama last November. These programs are to provide deportation relief and work authorization to approximately 5 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. Those who were granted DACA and work authorization already are in no way affected by this ruling so they should apply for their DACA renewal as planned.
Those who qualify under the newest deferred action announced last November, including “DAPA” (deferred action for parents of U.S. citizens) and “Extended DACA,” should continue to gather their documentation for their applications. This ruling is not expected to be a permanent block of DAPA and Extended DACA.
